Growing Community at the MLK Park Peace Garden
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, volunteers gathered at Martin Luther King Jr. Park to continue the revitalization of the Community Peace Garden, one of the most visible and meaningful parts of Friends of MLK Park’s work.
From 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, neighbors came together to tend the shared growing spaces, care for the garden, and spend time in community. Some brought gardening experience. Others simply brought willing hands and a desire to give back. Together, they helped cultivate a space rooted in wellness, service, unity, and hope.
The Community Peace Garden is more than a garden. It is a place where neighbors can connect, slow down, learn from one another, and imagine a greener, healthier future for our neighborhood. Every plant tended, every weed pulled, and every conversation shared helps bring new life to the park.
Friends of MLK Park is grateful to every volunteer who showed up to care for this special space. Your time and effort help make MLK Park more welcoming, beautiful, and nourishing for the whole community.
We look forward to continuing this work together as we grow the garden and deepen our shared commitment to care, connection, and community.
