Friends of MLK Park Continues Advocacy for the MLK Park Vision Plan

Friends of MLK Park continues working alongside residents, community leaders, and partners to ensure that the MLK Park Vision Plan reflects what the community actually wants, needs, and deserves.

On Monday, May 18, community members were invited to attend a public meeting hosted by the City’s Public Works Department regarding park improvements and the future of Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The gathering created an important opportunity for residents, families, youth, and stakeholders to learn more about the progress of the Vision Plan, hear directly from Public Works staff, ask questions, and share feedback.

For months, Friends of MLK Park has served as a bridge between the community and the City, advocating for transparency, accountability, and meaningful investment in the park. MLK Park is more than a public space. It is a place of history, memory, wellness, connection, and possibility for Central Long Beach.

As improvements move forward, community voices must remain at the center. The people who use, love, and care for MLK Park should help shape its future.

Friends of MLK Park will continue working to ensure that promises made to the community are followed by action, that residents stay informed, and that the park reflects the pride, history, and future of Central Long Beach.
